European roulette is one of the variations of the same-name game, which is in demand in almost all land-based and online casinos. The point of the game is that the dealer spins the ball, and the player’s goal is to guess the number, color, or parity of the pocket where the ball will land in. For the first time such entertainment appeared in France, and the first casino with the European roulette was opened in 1842 by Franz Blank. He made a number of changes, in particular, removed the double zero, which increased the winning chances for players as well as their attendance in gambling clubs.

European Roulette special features

A game can be considered European if:

There are 37 numbers on the wheel (18 red, 18 black and one zero).

Numbers layout: 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26.

The odds on a number is 35 to 1.

The words written on the table are most often in English, less often in French or Spanish.

The betting field is not symmetrical, as in French roulette, and the simple odds are closer to the player.

Verbal bets on series of numbers are possible. There is often an additional bet section for this purpose.

European roulette is a fast and dynamic game. Five or six people can comfortably sit together at the European roulette table. You can place bets both before the ball is spun, and while it is spinning on the edge of the wheel. Bets stop being accepted about three laps before the ball comes to a halt. In real casinos, just one croupier can serve a game of European roulette. Croupier spins the ball, helps players place bets, indicates the winning number, takes chips and gives out winnings.

Bet Types in European Roulette

When playing for real money in European roulette, you need to understand the types of bets available. These are inside and outside bets. Let’s look at their differences.

Bet on black/red (1 to 1 payout) – the player bets that the ball will stop in one of the red or black pockets. When betting on red the winning sectors are – 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 30, 32, 34, 36. If you bet on black, the winning sectors are – 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 33, 35.

Bet on even/odd number (1 to 1 payout) – the player bets that the ball will stop in a pocket with an even or odd number. If the bet is made on an even number, the winning sectors are considered to be 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36. Bet on high/low (1 to 1 payout) – the player bets that the ball will stop in the pocket with one of the numbers from 1 to 18 or from 19 to 36. If the bet is placed on low, the winning pockets are those numbered from 1 to 18. If the bet is made on high, the winning sectors are considered to be numbered from 19 to 36.

Dozen bet – player bets that the number will be in a chosen dozen – first (from 1 to 12), second (from 13 to 24) or third (from 25 to 36). The payout amount varies: the winning bet on 1 or 2 dozen is paid 2 to 1, and the bet on 3d dozen is paid 1 to 1.

Winning numbers in case of a bet on the first column are 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34. If the player bets on the second column, pockets with numbers 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 win. Winning numbers, if you bet on the third column, are – 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36.
